Who will be V-C of Pt. BD Sharma Health University in Rohtak?
A million dollar question being asked in political, administrative and media circles is that who will be the Vice-Chancellor of Rohtak's Pt. Bhagwat Dyal Sharma Health University?
Faculty members of the university and BD Sharma Medical
College, Rohtak are more curious to know
about who would be the Vice-Chancellor. University's present Vice-Chancellor
Dr. S.S. Sangwan has resigned from his post about a month back so that Bhupinder Singh Hooda,
Chief Minister of Haryana could appoint his favorite as Vice-Chancellor
for the full term of three years.
Term of Dr. S.S Sangwan was completing
in next seven months. After Dr. Sangwan's resignation, the executive
committee of the University in its meeting, that was convened hurriedly,
constituted a search committee. Following the old proverb that charity begins
at home, Bhupinder Singh Hooda had reportedly pressurized
the search committee members to recommend the name of a close relative of his
wife for the post.
Highly placed sources told that concerned person
was not having required qualifications for the post. One of the aspirants for
the top post had also reportedly sent representations
to Jagannath Pahadia, the then Governor against that person citing
various rules and regulations of Medical Council of India.
Although Governor, Pahadia had cleared
several files including appointment of Dr. Asha Kadiyan, as Vice-Chancellor
of the only women university, Bhagat Phool Singh Women
University, Khanpur late in night under pressure from Bhupinder Singh
Hooda but he did not cleared the file for the appointment of
Vice-Chancellor of the Health University to avoid controversy. So at present
Dr. S.S. Sangwan is holding the charge of V-C of the University.
Date of Assembly polls is likely to be announced
in second or third week of August and it is unlikely that search committee will
recommend name of some other candidates suitable to Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
