Why an atheist is a hero for theists?
Theists accept Bhagat Singh as their hero, who ironically was a hardcore atheist. According to him, if there exists any god, then he is as cruel as Nero or Changez Khan. If he held such views, then why is he considered a hero by theists? Here's why.
IT IS an exclamatory fact that people of philosophy accept a person as their hero, who has entirely different philosophy from them. Moreover, the difference of philosophy is not on any usual issue, but on the issue of religion – that religion due to which, a person does not think before killing another person. I am talking about atheist philosophy of Shaheed-e-Azam, Sardar Bhagat Singh.

In our society, there is only a negligible number of people, who do not believe in god. In our society, people who believe in different religions fall into riots for their different gods. People have excessive faith in their gods that they leave their good and bad on god and pray to god to make everything right.

Due to excessive faith of people in religion, political leaders play with their sentiments and gain political benefits. But when we study the views of the great heroes of our freedom movement like Shaheed-e-Azam, Sardar Bhagat Singh, we learn that he did not believe in god. He called himself a hardcore atheist in his writings, ’Why I am an atheist?’. He did not even pray to god till the time he was hanged. According to him, if there exists any god, then he is as cruel as Nero and Changez Khan.

Due to excessive faith of society in god and atheist’s view of Bhagat Singh, a great question arises in our hearts that why the people of theist philosophy accept Bhagat Singh as their hero, who said that god was as cruel as Nero and Changez Khan.

Besides, if we accept the existence of god, then how in the presence of god that Bhagat Singh got the status of ’hero’, who said ’Rabb Murdabad’ (down with god).

Whether god exists or not that is a debatable question. But if efforts are made to answer the above questions, then a reality can be achieved and that reality is the welfare of humanity. That reality is struggle for justice and service to humanity. Bhagat Singh bestowed his life to serve humanity, he fought for our independence, ignoring casteism and other divisions of society. Due to this, he is the hero of people. Today’s youths should adopt such thinking, with which they can serve humanity and fight for justice. Then they can become heroes like Bhagat Singh. Besides, god will not object to their heroism, whether they believe in god or not.

Alhough Bhagat Singh was, according to your article, a self-professed atheist, he possessed the good qualities of a saintly person. As you state: "Bhagat Singh bestowed his life to serve humanity, he fought for our independence, ignoring casteism and other divisions of society." Dinesh, you go on to say: "Due to this, he is the hero of people." Broad-minded and self-sacrificing people are often held in higher regard than narrow-minded and selfish ones. God, too, as you put it: " will not object to their heroism, whether they believe in god or not." This is because self-sacrifice is righteousness and therefore Godliness. I concur that "today?s youth should adopt such thinking."
