Why some Hindu groups oppose Valentine's Day?
Some political parties like Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party oppose Valentine's Day by staging protests against this 'western festival spoiling the Indian culture'. Shiv Sena has been going to an extent of attacking and burning down shops selling Valentine's Day cards and threatening florists on the day. They hold that the celebration is totally contrary to Indian culture and corrupting the minds of teenagers in the country.

There are some Pro-Hindu conservative groups like Shri Ram Sene, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, etc., who see Valentine’s Day as a 'cultural pollution by westerners' promoting pre-marital sex and blatant expressions of physical attraction between two sexes. Sri Ram Sene has already warned people saying if they celebrated the day despite their warning, their activists will attack them.

Opposing Valentine's Day that have originated from the blind emulation of the western culture are based on materialism leading to degradation of values and decency, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti has observed, "Present Indian young generation is blindly following Western culture by celebrating Friendship Day, Valentine Day, Rose Day, Jeans’s Day etc. Such celebrations do not exhibit true love and gratitude but is an excuse for enjoyment and is just a formality without any meaning."

The commercial and arbitrary nature of the Valentine’s Day are also opposed by the UP-based Hindu Jagran Manch. According to them, Valentine’s Day is not only a gimmick of multinational companies to market their products, but is also against the culture and ethics of Indians.

I wish they would stop wasting time chasing little kids who are just having fun and start doing something about the real issues in this country. Plus what is wrong with celebrating love... Atleast they are not spreading violence and brutality.

The writer of this article started with a title why and his article looks like a copy paste of what these fanatics say and doesn't conclude. Sir if you really want to talk about this subject provide some intellectual input from you.

Yes, Indian culture is raping women and not to celebrate any day of love with them! These political parties never reacted so actively and harshly on any crime in our country as they react on the celebration of Valentine's Day.
