Why the Congress and other regional opposition parties against Land Acquisition Bill promoted by BJP-led government?
With Sonia Gandhi leading the march of Congress included 14 opposition parties the other day to Rashtrapati Bhavan against the land acquisition bill, as amended by the Modi government, one may think that all these leaders are such good Samaritans who only think good of the people specially the soldiers and farmers.

One should not forget that it was the Congress party only, which first came up with this slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. This was subsequently adopted by these regional parties also. It is a separate issue that while Jawans (soldiers) who were wanting one rank pension for last ten years but no leader of this 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' band wagon ever bothered to grant them their legitimate request.

Modi was the first prime minister of India in last 68 years of Indian independence who flew all the way to Siachen Glacier to meet the jawans recently and now one rank one pension is also through.

As for kisans (farmers) their plight should be seen by visiting the Indian villages. Even after 68 years of independence every year thousands of Kisans commit suicide because of lack of facilities being provided to them by these so called kisan loving governments. 90 per cent of Indian kisans suffer the problem of lack of proper fertiliser support, lack of suitable facilities of their farm produce reaching the market, fluctuation of prices, total lack of food processing and cold storage facilities near villages thereby every year India loses Rs. 66000 corers worth of fruit and vegetables crops and less wages provided to them.

In addition they suffer from lack of education and other basic facilities including toilets in their villages. So what wonder that despite 60 per cent of Indian population involved in agriculture the total contribution of agriculture to Indian GDP is just 15 per cent.

This is happening after 68 years of independence. So whom are these Kisan loving netas fooling specially when Modi government has announced that only one km corridor near the roads and towns will be acquired? The truth is that only 10 per cent of the so called Kisans who have large tract of land near towns will be affected. And who are these kisans who own these large tracts near towns? This needs to be investigated.

Most probably it may be these leaders only who may lose this land if this law comes into being. One should not forget that even kisans need industry coming near villages because now the rural youth is migrating to cities for jobs and living in miserable conditioned in city slums. If industry has to come then land is needed. So a viable medium has to be found we cannot allow India remaining poor in perpetuity due to lack of industrialisation.
