Why the Congress scion Rahul Gandhi jumped into the Well: An analysis
In a surprise move, the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi lead his party men in to the Well of Lok Sabha during the Question Hour while alleging that there is a rise in communal tension in the country and demanded an urgent discussion.

The Congress scion also leveled charges against Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan as partial to treasury bench. Later talking to press Rahul Gandhi said that only one man (PM Narendra Modi) is heard by all.

Frankly speaking, Lok Shabha speakers are always bit partial to the government side or say government's decision finally prevails. But Sumitra Mahajan's performance is no doubt very good till date. Blaming a veteran leader like her for misusing office of speaker is highly objectionable and derogatory.

Then there are rules and traditions. Business advisory committee is there which has members from all parties and decides business of the house a week ahead. Further the rulebook says Question Hour shouldn't be adjourned.

Further, which communal tension in the country the Congress wanted to discuss? There is definitely some tension in Meerut after allegation of kidnap, rape and forced religious conversion. Nothing concrete has came out yet although police made some arrests.

Law and order is state's subject. At the moment if there are any discussion on this issue (where facts are yet to be confirmed) it would only lead to provocation. The second communal tension might be in Haryana where SGPC and Haryana SGPC volunteers clashed. But that's really a product of Hooda government's involvement in a religious matter. Why should a government to intervene in religious matters at all?

The Congress claims to be secular but perhaps forget that secular means no concern with religion or otherwise saying the government has no business in any religious issues.

Then why suddenly Rahul Gandhi jumped in to the Well of the House leaving? Let me try to analyze.

The Congress suffered worst ever defeat under his leadership. There was rebellion inside the party. Some party men directly questioned the leadership qualities of Rahul Gandhi. Some even call him a joker! Many inside the party demanded Priyanka Gandhi's leadership in the party instead of Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul didn't own the responsibility of defeat in true sense. Because he didn't quit his post, no CMs (Gogoi and Hooda) have also quit. This makes people believe that Rahul is backing these CMs despite poor performance. Fact is, if these CMs asked to resign, how Rahul Gandhi can sustain his position!

In the mean time Rahul Gandhi was caught napping (as shown in a TV footage) in the Lok Sabha. The speaker and the government is in no mood to give LOP status to the Congress because of lack of numbers. Now the Congress is being given only two front row seats in Lok Sabha. Thus all these lead to frustration of the Congress party and the party vice-president.

Some insiders say that Sonia Gandhi is in no mood to bring Priyanka Gandhi at the cost of Rahul Gandhi. Thus Rahul is instructed to be more proactive and prove his mantle as the unquestionable leader of Congress party.

That's why perhaps Rahul took this surprise stunt complaining that they are not allowed to speak in the house. In that case let me ask Rahul Gandhi, how many times you have debated on any issue in the last one decade?

Win and loss is a part and parcel of the political carrier. It would have been better had Rahul Gandhi graciously accepted the defeat, quit the party post of Vice-President, accepted the position of leader of Congress Parliamentary party and lead the MPs in a decent and exemplary way.

BJP was much condemned due to their irresponsible opposition role during the UPA's regime. Rahul Gandhi had a chance to prove how decent and constructive can be an opposition party. This conduct would have won popular support for him!

But alas! He is in mood to destroy his image permanently! Instead of putting effort to rebuild the party's image, he and his party is stooping down to the level of some rough regional parties that prefer disturbance in the House?

I would also advise Rahul Gandhi for a deeper introspection and come out with a decent strategy that would win public accolade. Else he would not only end his political carrier unceremoniously but also put survival of the Congress Party at risk!

There is an Odia proverb 'Kula boodila belaku Ghoda muhan pua janam hue' which means when dynasty is set to finish, horse faced son takes birth! (Here horse face means a person who doesn't understand the merit of anything and moves directionless harming the dynasty). Hope Rahul wouldn't be a 'Ghoda muhan' for the Congress!
