This is surprising for us, are our other cities not well developed? Don't they have availability of all basic facilities and living standards? I don’t want to discuss other cities of Sindh and want to focus on Thatta district. Here 60% government school are still closed, and there is non-available of any basic facilities such as health, metal roads, electricity, and transport in the villages of Taluka Sijawal, Jatti, Bathoro, and other talukas of district thatta. After the flood of 2010, the Government has not provided any road access during rain season in the villages of district Thatta.
There is no initiative on part of our government to establish and develop old cities and villages, and no rehabitation of flood affected villages of district thatta has been carried out.
In my point of view, we don't need any new city. We already have many villages, many of them historical, and the government should improve the basic needs, and there should be future planning to develop and improve education, health, drainage system, transport, agriculture, livelihood, drinking water, and a number of others basic needs.
In previous cyclone and super flood of 2010, the coastal belt of Thatta was totally destroyed, we have no any basic facilities to face a difficult situation in that condition. That was a high level loss in the past, so early warning system should be put in place by the government.
