Why tribals are sympathetic towards Naxals ?
Thousands of Youths are earning their bread from Naxals. Naxals extort hundreds of crores from industrialists and business owners. Most of them pay them without making any noise. Those who resist are threatened or murdered.
P CHIDAMBARAM, the home minister of India has reiterated the resolve of the government to rein in the Naxals forces through all possible means.He has asked the state government for their cooperation.Some states are cooperating with him and subscribe to his vision but Shibu Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand has been non-committal so far. Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar has been also advocating for an alternative method to tackle this menace.
Half the naxal problem would be over if government put its house in order. For that the corruption has to be removed and that is something beyond the control of any government. Rajiv Gandhi knew about the extent of corruption, Rahul Gandhi knows as well but nothing has been done in that regard so far.
These divergent views are the result of the diverse and completely different situation at the ground level. The situation in Chattishgarh is very different from the ground realities of Jharkhand. However the one common thread that bind these all Naxal infested states is the rampant corruption and absence of any effective quick and just grievance redressing mechanism.
It is a myth that all tribals support Naxals. They are, however, not opposed to them. Naxal steps in where the states have failed them. Thousands of youth are earning their bread from Naxals. Naxals extort hundreds of crores from industrialists and business owners. Most of them pay them without making any noise.
Those who resist are threatened or murdered. All these activities are done across many states and tens of thousands of tribal youths are employed for this purpose.
Most of these Youths are unemployed and feel themselves empowered under the shadow of Naxalism. Majority of these Naxal -foot- brigades are not aware that they are doing something which is anti- national. Many of them do not have an iota of an information about their motherland - India.They consider their jungle as their nation and whoever come to administer them as their enemy.
Naxals act as the catalyst and exploit their grievances to fulfil their political agenda.
Human rights activists are right when they criticize the government of atrocities.The defunct police force have no guts to confront heavily trained and armed Naxal carders head-on but to show their valour they pick up village youths and deal with them brutally. This has been the policing pattern over a decade now and these kind of actions have made Police the villain and Naxals very popular among them.They just do not like Police and state officials.

No matter what measures government resort to address the problem, the whole exercise would prove futile unless corruption is weeded out from the system. The ominous sign for the government is that the naxasls have been able to spread their influence beyond the Jungle as well and the situation is bound to worsen further.

ashok you stupid indian hindi bigot. The tribal people DO support the naxals. People do not stay neutral in any conflict. Everyone always chooses a side. People may decide not to get involved in the war on either side, but they always support a side. You stupid flipping plum ass weed. The students at university, college and school level support the Naxals. It was a student movement or have you already decided to forget about that. It was a movement created at the behest of India because of the attrocities being commited by the latter. I cannot believe that people like you would like to remain ignorant of these facts. The Naxals do not deliberately target civilians, they target infrastructure, the army and the police. I have been to the area numerous times, the people who are very humble and simple minded support the Naxals. They have a very simple yet clear picture of it. "We are not India - They fight India - We want our land - our food to be our food only - our treasures to be our treasures - They take from India and give to us" This is exactly what a farmer said in Chi, naxal belt said to me.

Kudos to you for bringing out this story. You are exactly true and that's the news here. Our Govt spoiling the life of people and in reality they are not doing nothing for the country and the civilains. Actually, it is high time to support the Naxals....
