Why victim turned hostile in Shiney Ahuja rape case?
The only question that arises is why did the victim turn hostile despite DNA test reports in 2009 have confirmed that the actor had raped his domestic help. It puts a big question mark on the functioning of country's judicial system.
SHINEY AHUJA must be all smiles due to the new twist in the case of rape slapped on him after allegations of rape were levelled by a maid working at his home. However, the maid now claims that the actor never raped her and she gave this statement before a fast track court in Mumbai. It is shocking that such a henious crime has found no appropriate resolution and justice as always is delayed to rape victims. The police are often blamed for being insensitive towards poor rape victims, however, the real culprit is the criminal justice system. The trial of rape cases are very long and intimidating for the victims and many of them turn hostile because of this. Victims are turning hostile, particularly in cases involving high profile personalities due to external pressures, thereby leading to the failures of the criminal justice system. In my opinion, victims should also be punished if they turn hostile. As long as witnesses continue to go hostile and do not make truthful depositions in court, justice will always suffer and peoples' faith in the credibility of judicial process and justice system will continue to erode. At the end of the case, I am sure Shiney Ahuja will go scot-free due to lack of evidence and victim might be richer by few lakhs.
