A group of 36 women aged 18 through 35 were divided into three groups. One group ate the "fermented milk product with probiotic" (FMPP) or yogurt that actually contained four major probiotic bacteria, twice daily for a month. The second or control group was fed the same amounts of yogurt devoid of probiotics over the same period, while the third group ate neither.
For data collection, all three groups were put through the same emotional task testing and received magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs) of their brains before, during, and after the study. The analysis of the collected data showed that many areas of brain got affected including those involved in sensory processing and emotions.
The main lesson from the research for us that we must avoid consuming processed foods, refined sugar and high fructose corn syrups as they enhance probiotic destruction or cause intestinal flora imbalances.
It has been recommended that fermented Asian foods, such as miso, natto, or nattokinase supplements and kefirs can be used for maintenance of intestinal flora and better gut-brain interaction.
Thus, one again, science has proved that processed foods, fried foods and fast foods destroy both physical and mental health of human beings.
