NINTENDO CO is gearing up to expand its sales of the 'Wii' in the U.S. market. It is planning to add extra game in its MotionPlus accessory for making the console's motion sensing wand more precise. To make its console more catchy it will offer black casing along with already available white casing.
Currently the package of Wii along with 'Wii sport' and wand is available at $200 . Nintendo in a statement on Monday said it will add “Wii Sports Resort” and the MotionPlus to the combo.
The new combo will be available in the U.S. from Sunday. Black Wii's are available in the Japanese and European market, and the announcement of American foray was expected. Although, the Japanese based company didn't give out a specific price for the console combo outside the U.S. but said it will be comparable. The Wii is world's most popular video game console. It outsells Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Market reports are that Sony and MS are coming up with with latest motion controller consoles in the later part of the current financial year.
This will definitely add aggressiveness in marketing strategy and gamers will have some cost advantage. The Nintendo is saying that this package is more a 'value enhancement' rather than price cut. The move is to bring those consumer who are on the edge. “Wii Sports Resort” which comes with MotionPlus, cost $50.
