The question remains that whether the resignations by the legislators of the ruling and the opposition party make a new Telangana, as desired by the people. The pressure is mounting on the Congress with 73 resignations.
THE CONGRESS government of Andhra Pradesh is in a soup as 36 legislators from the party and all 33 legislators from the opposition party resigned over the ongoing controversial issue of separate statehood. From the 36 Congress legislators, 11 were ministers.

From the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) four members resigned on Sunday thus taking the number of the legislators to quit to 73. Telangana has as many as 119 legislators out of the 294 member assembly. The Congress on the other hand has as many as 52 legislators with two member of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) that recently joined the Congress.All the resignations were submitted to Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka as Speaker N. Manohar is currently in US. Almost all the members have resigned except for Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, ministers D. Nagender, Mukesh Goud and Shankar Rao. Political analysts are of the view that Congress would soon be reduced to minority group if the resignations of the legislators are accepted by the Speaker.
K. Jana Reddy, a leading Congressman said that they are not inclined to toppel the government but their resignations are in line with the aspirations of the people, who want a separate sate. Almost all the Congress member said that the resignation was aimed at pressuring the ruling party to bestow a separate state as has been promised on Dec 9, 2009.
