The man behind the controversial anti Islamic movie 'Innocence of Muslims' that has sparked a fire in the Muslim world was finally arrested on Thursday 27th September 2012 for breaking the terms of probation in a bank fraud case.
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula has a criminal record, and he has been charged for fraud against the
Federal Bank in California. Nakoula has been sentenced to 21 months federal prison, and has been ordered not to use the computer and internet for five years. The user name 'Sam Bacile', which was used by him to publish the provocative movie on YouTube, was used by him again, and this move helped the cops to find the culprit, reported huffingtonpost.
Sam Bacile was a false identity, as Israeli officials said that they had no records of a citizen named Bacile. But Nakoula Basseley Nakoula still denies to accept that he was Bacile, though he said that he knew Bacile. He is also saying that he has not directed the film 'Innocence of Muslims'. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula uses many pseudonyms and false identities to create accounts in a bank, and uses them as fraudulent accounts. And the YouTube account that he created in the name of Sam Bacile is one such kind.
Authorities say that parts of the movie, 'Innocence of Muslim', were recorded in Nakoula's home. And it is said that the script was prepared by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula when he was in the prison. He produced the film with the help of his son and wife, and the money for the film was given by his wife's family in Egypt. After uploading the movie on YouTube, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula with his family was hiding, and their house was listed for sale. But, the US Federal Authority arrested Nakoula Basseley Nakoula at Los Angeles on 27th September 2012.
