Will Baba Ramdev repeat Chanakya?
Baba Ramdev is aiming to develop the country by attaining political power. But the million dollar question being asked is whether he will succeed? He wants the country to attain its old glory and become super power.
SWAMI RAMDEV, yoga guru who has been hitting the media headlines for his yoga teachings, now-a-days, is again in the news, but this time not because of yoga. His announcement of contesting in the coming Lok Sabha polls by floating political party is being discussed in political as well as media circles. Intelligence bureau, multinational companies and foreign powers are watching his activities. Centuries ago, our country was facing social and political turmoil during the rule of Nandvansh and people were unhappy with the style and functioning of rulers. Chanakya, acharya of gurukul was keenly watching the developments. His heart was bleeding for the welfare of common people but was unable to do anything due to anti people attitude of the rulers. He took oath to destroy anti people kingdom and his tireless efforts resulted in formation of the kingdom of Chandragupata. Rest is a part of history as the dynasty ruled the country for long serving the masses. Besides, Chanakya’s efforts have checked the entry of foreign invaders. He united the country.

The situation is similar as was during Chanakya regime. Political corruption is at its peak. People are poor and unemployed. A larger section is unable to manage two square meal. Health care and education is beyond the reach of common people. Human Resources Minister Kapil Sibbal has urged the big business houses to open universities for which government will give liberal loans. It is shocking that Ambani presents jet to his wife on her birthday and a poor lady carrying her new born baby in her laps, work for the whole day in scorching heat for a meager amount. The growing influence of Maoists as indication of the unrest is prevailing in the country. Baba Ramdev faces several hurdles in his mission.
Caste, region, religion, multinational companies and foreign powers will create hurdles in his mission. Admittedly present rulers cutting across party lines instead of serving the people serve big businessmen. Holy scripture Ramayana says that ‘Jis raja nahi praja swari vo raja hai nark adhikari’ meaning thereby that the king who do not care for his people deserves hell. Hindu kings Ashoka and Chandragupata were all for the welfare of the people. Mahatma Gandhi also advocated for ethics in politics.
Now let us discuss the challenges before Baba Ramdev. Undoubtedly yoga teachings has popularised him all over the coutnry. A large number of people could be seen practicing pranayam in public parks. Media is also giving him full attention. A national English daily devoted him a full page. He was also invited at the recent conclave of India Today where he spoke on sex and spirituality, free and gay sex with authority quoting scientific and religious instances to justify his point of view. When Brinda Karat criticised him for using human bones in medicines prepared by his Patanjali Ashram then Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulaym Singh Yadav and the entire Bharatiya Janata Party defended him. But at that time, he did not show any intentions of joining politics. How politicians and parties relish the idea of others encroaching their field.
Although he has established his credibility by giving relief to people through his yoga teachings yet his opponents accuse him of building an empire. Vote bank politics based on caste, region and religion, foreign powers and multinational companies are hurdles in his mission. Besides he lacks a team although he is recruiting members thorugh his Bharat Swabiman Trust. During the time of Chanakya there was no influence of cast and religion. But now after Mandal and Kamandal and Ram Temple and Babri mosque issue, voters have polarised on caste and religious lines. Baba says that dalits need meals not statues but the question is whether they will prefer him or his candidates over Mayawati. Admittedly Baba is above these considerations but do the voters also think on the same lines. Multinational companies dealing in medicines will also make all out efforts to block his mission.
Now, Mayawati and Lalu Yadav have turned against him. Even BJP has cautioned him for announcing his mission at early stage.

.Ramdev to launch party
Making his political ambitions clear ,yoga guru Baba Ramdev plans to launch his political plateform in June with an eye on parliamentary elections in 2014.

People need pure, patriotic, selfless leaders which Baba id raising through Bharat Swabhiman Andolan. The battle ground of Mahabharata was Kurukshetra when the demonic forces were crushed in the guidance of Krishna. This time the battle ground will be the 2014 elections and the demonic forces will be defeated. This will be a bloodless war and the march is towards the Parliament and throw away the dynastic rulers of today.
