Will debate on price rise give relief to the common man?
The debate amongst the ruling government and opposition will end as a routine exercise. The common man has no option but to wait for 2014 for the government to change.
TODAY PARLIAMENT is expected to function smoothly after the two days of disruption. The government has given into opposition’s demand for a debate on price rise. The Lok Sabha will debate the issue on price rise under Rule 184 that entail voting while the Rajya Sabha will have debate next week.

The discussion will start around noon, after the question hour, and it will continue for the next four hours till voting. It is evident that the numbers are stacked in favour of ruling government. The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has 273 members, and there are likely other members of different parties who will incline towards the government. On the other hand the opposition has only 209 members.

“What we will get? Nothing… leaders will fight for few hours… this will end of the day” said medical professional. “All practices of debating and voting are futile exercise; first politicians should learn to be in harmony for the national interest” added another engineer executive.
Similarly a college professor also said, “I am fed up of government policies, people are mute observer, no one will listen to common man”

Debate on prise rise is not a bad idea, it is better than adjourning house for trivial reasons. The government policies are such that they always fail to bring relief to the common man under spiralling inflation or improve infrastructure. The debate among ruling government and opposition will end as routine exercise. The common man has no option, but to wait for 2014 for any kind of change. Our various reforms moving very slowly. In my view there should be referendum on all issues as people want it their way because they have lost faith on their representatives and government both. But we must be cautious on these referendums too as it gives the right to speak to public while the only trusted way to convey people’s will is through autonomous institutions.
