Ballmer said that the tablet hardware is set to be based on Intel processors rather than ARM chips. The tablets will run on the Windows OS which will have a look and feel of Windows 7 rather than the much talked Windows Phone 7.
MICROSOFT CEO Steve Ballmer at the company's conference for financial analysts revealed that the company is already on the way to bring tablet computers powered by Windows OS. He also acknowledged the success that their biggest rival has had with newly launched iPad just few months ago.
Ballmer didn’t reveal much about the products but said that they will offer a great product which people would love to own. He told to the financial analysts that the company aims "not just to deliver products, but to deliver products that people want to buy."
Ballmer couldn’t disclose any date of the launch of the product and who are the manufacturers of the announced tablets. He said "They'll be shipping as soon as they are ready." He cleared that the product won’t be made by Microsoft but by partners. He further added that, "It is job one urgency. No one is sleeping at the switch."
He went on to acknowledge the success that iPad has seen,"they've sold certainly more than I'd like them to have sold."
