Wipe out permanent membership in the UNSC
Probably the most undemocratic set up in the present world order is the security council of United Nations. It has the membership with permanence and veto power. Both are completely against the ideals of democracy.
OCTOBER 24 is marked as United Nations Day. It’s observed worldwide to generate awareness about the aims, objects and activities of this prime global organisation.

At the time of inception of UNO in 1945, the global environment was different from present day. World was troubled as the World War II had just concluded. Political air was full of mistrust, hate and non cooperation. India, the homeland of civilisation, was under oppressive foreign rule.

It’s true, out of 51 participating nations; many were represented by imperialist rulers. Therefore, independent voices remained mostly unheard.
No doubt, UNO was the necessity of time; instead the motive played behind the initiation was absolutely the internal as well as external interests of a few powerful nations.

All of them had imperialist past. England, US, France, Russia and some other countries muddled the history with unnecessary use of power, encroaching of neighbours’ land and committing atrocities on innocent people.

As popular revolution led to peoples’ awareness in some influential parts of the world, they had to change the strategy for expanding imperialism work front. Now, they had to shape an intellectual platform to control the whole world in new methods. Security Council is the production of this thinking.

In a growingly democratised world order now, provision for permanent membership in UN Security Council (world’s most powerful set up) fixes a shame only. It’s completely contrary to the ideals of democracy, progressiveness and of course, basics and fundamentals of the civilisation. Anyone of the five permanent members can abandon any decision taken by majority of 192 member nations by using veto! Can it be placed in any democratic thought process for long?

If no, it’s time to put a strong demand for wiping out the shameful provision for permanent membership in Security Council.
India, rather than propagating for entry into the gang of contradictions, should act to aware the world about its menace.
