Wish list 2012 - New Year resolutions
Just few hours later, we are going to enter into a New Year. One would carry along with him a whole bundle of unfulfilled desires and hope and pray to God Almighty to ensure that they are fulfilled in the coming year.

Here comes the New Year and with it we should resolve to certain good things. Ok, let us help you with those things.

First – take care of the environment– avoid use of plastic carry bags – go back to the days of cloth bags that can be slung on the shoulders or revert to plastic baskets which were immensely popular even in the 70s - it had a disadvantage: everyone could see the contents of the basket. An advantage - it could turn out to be the starting point for a conversation.

Two – increase greenery around you– again related to environment – if space permits, go for indoor plants, even keep tiny flower pots on the balcony. And – take care of trees that exist in your neighborhood. If possible, plant new ones. The chirping of birds in the trees can be a refreshing change from the constant din of motorized vehicles on the roads.

Three – re-learn the art of cycling, walking and climbing stairs– these are environment friendly activities that should be encouraged

Four – health is wealth therefore, take care of your health– join yoga classes, go to a gym, and participate in the laughing clubs.

Five – reduce wastages of all types like electricity and water– both are precious commodities and you must cultivate the habit of conservation – switch off the lights and air conditioners when you don’t need them - the motto is ‘waste not, want not’.

Six – if you are a teacher, take care of your students as your teacher had taken care of you – the relationship between the teacher and pupil is sacred.

Seven – if you are a student, respect your teachers and do not indulge in ragging your juniors – you have to ultimately become good and responsible citizens.

Eight – if you are a politician, take care of your electorate as they are the ones who voted you to power.

Nine – if you are into the world of glitter, resolve to be involved in social activities that can improve the living conditions of the less fortunate ones.

Ten – in general, resolve to avoid violence and opt, instead, for peace – violence might help once in a while but peace always wins, it pays rich dividends.
