With CRPF model, success is guaranteed for entrepreneurs
03 June, 2012
Named CRPF, this is a model inspired by the commando training given to NSG personnel. It discusses how we can move ahead by overcoming the mental barriers.
THE WAY NSG commandoes jumped from one building to another during the Mumbai Terror attack amazed me. So I asked one of my friends from the armed forces as to how were they able to execute this. What is the secret? I asked. They are trained to break the mental blocks, he replied. That set me thinking.
Few months later my friend Jennifer Sertl used the term ‘leap of faith’ when she came to know of my decision to become an entrepreneur. So few days back I developed a new model of success, CRPF model. C= Change your beliefs R-P = Reinforce with Practice F= (take the leap of) Faith.
What often stops us from succeeding are our own mental blocks and barriers. I had once posted on Facebook, ‘People are busy constructing and I am busy destroying… one mental block after another’. There are hundreds of simple and complex techniques to change our beliefs like positive affirmations, NLP, visualization and so on. Once a new set of beliefs are decided, they can replace the old beliefs. If the trainee believes that he can only jump 5 feet, he is trained to believe that he can jump 10 feet. Once the mental block is broken then only practice can help.
Lao Tzu says, “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.” But the question is what creates positive or negative thoughts, inspiring or limiting thoughts. It is only our beliefs which create the thoughts. Beliefs are the starting point to write our own destiny. Once you begin to believe that you write your own destiny, you decide to take control of your life, no matter what.
Reinforcing the new beliefs by practicing, sometimes failing and getting up again is what is required. To do that requires lot of devilish perseverance and hellish determination. Practice makes a man perfect. Fall seven times and stand up eight, say the Japanese. If there is a will, you will, if there is half-will, you never will. Our brains are like blank softwares and they are programmed by parents, teachers, friends and society. If a program in your mind has virus, replace it urgently, before it corrupts the whole system.
Once a new set of beliefs have been planted in your brain or programmed in your mind, you are ready to take the leap of faith. The leap can be anything, it can be a decision to become entrepreneur, it can be a jump from one building to another, it can be to launch an innovative product in the market or it can be the decision to come out of an abusive relationship. Faith can be a strong belief in self or a strong belief in a higher power, a matter of individual choice. Those who dare to take the leap are the ones who grow by leaps and bounds. So are you ready to take the leap or are bounded by your beliefs?
