With the mosque gone from the disputed site, what is left for the Hindutva brigade to exhibit their might?
Ram Mandir issue had brought the Bhartiya Jansangh from 2 members to now centre stage. 'Ram Mandir Mudda' has been a tongue of the trump so far. All that brouhaha created before these elections is a well-tried exercise to win the next bout.

However, the Supreme Court's recent observation came as a dampener for the Hindutva brigade. It threw a wet blanket over their immediate ambitions and aspirations to sweep the board. Out of frustration, and to circumvent the issue, an old alibi was revived - "Matters of faith cannot be decided by a court of law, and the patience was running out for the Hindus".

The reality of matter is - every unbiased Indian is aware that some State elections and 2019 Lok Sabha polls are looming large over the country horizon. With nothing to show as positive achievement and failing in almost every promise they had made in 2014, RSS / BJP juggernaut needs the emotional issues to digress from the pains and pathos experienced by ordinary Indians since the Saffron Brigade came to power. The fanatic fringes of so–called RSS-Hindutva are raising the pitch for Mandir issue to provide a back-door-support to the BJP regime. It is no rocket science. The Saffron brigade has cleverly timed mandirissue as a core issue to polarize the society and play with the majority sentiments once again.

The RSS's general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi had already declared that Hindus felt "insulted" that Ayodhya was not on a priority for the apex court. It is anyone's guess – who feels insulted by the acts of JUSTICE?

They have demolished the Babri Masjid long ago. The Indian Muslims had watched the razing of mosque helplessly. And now, with the mosque gone from the disputed site, what is left for the Hindutva brigade to exhibit their might? On the other side, the Muslim leadership, religious as well as political, has miserably failed to give any proper direction to Muslim Ummah. That conforms to a couplet of Waseem Barelvi:

"Meri zeest ek janazah, jo ke raah-e-waqt men hai, jo thaken ge din ke kandhe to supurd-e-sham hoga." My pathos and tribulations are like a coffin that has been caught in the time warp.  As the shoulders of the Day would tire, the Evening would take over the burden."

They have already made the best of Sardar Patel Might to belittle Nehru. But the Statue of Sardar would always remind the coming generations of Indians that it was the Iron Man of India who had banned the RSS.  Gandhi's grandson, Rajmohan Gandhi recalls Sardar's reply to civic address from the Bombay Corporation in his book "Patel, a Life":

"We have just heard people shouting that Muslims should be removed from India. Those who do so have gone mad with anger. I am a frank man. I say bitter things to Hindus and Muslim alike. At the same time I maintain that I am a friend of Muslims." Some has rightly said that the world's tallest statue has been dwarfed by the myopic vision of Sardar's own self-proclaimed bhakts.

Ironically, the BJP government has been caught in the cleft stick. It was decisive and supportive on Triple Talaq issue and the entry of women in the Haji Ali Shrine at Mumbai to the hilt, as  true followers of Justice. Yeh, it was related to the largest minority of democratic India. And now it is coincidental that the near unanimous (4:1) Sabarimala verdict has asked the Temple about the free entry of women. It has also addressed the question of essentiality of faith in re essentiality of rule of law.

No one knows what the country haas to face in the coming days. However, if nothing untowards happens and the NDA resorts to an executive fiat or ordinance, it might be challenged in the Supreme Court. God help the innocent citizens of India!
