Witness the star power in the 16th Lok Sabha elections
With General Elections just a doorstep away, the political scene in India is hotting. Parties are trying every trick in the book to attract voters and that includes roping in popular film stars, both to contest elections and to join the campaign. Here is the list of stars who might knock your door, this election season.
Veteran actor Kirron Kher is fighting on a BJP ticket from Chandigarh and ranged against her is former Miss India Gul Panag, the Aam Aadmi Party candidate. Chandigarh is Kher's maternal home and her actor husband Anupam Kher is expected to campaign for his wife.

Film maker Prakash Jha has also got a JDU ticket from West Champaran in Bihar. Considering that Jha belongs to this state. Speaking of familiar territory Bhojpuri Suparstar Ravi Kiran successfully sought and got the ticket from his home town Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. As a congress candidate he is quite positive about his electoral outcome.

Shatrughan Sinha has once again chosen to fight the Lok Sabha elections from Patna on a BJP ticket. Stand up Comedian Raju Shrivastav has got a BJP ticket from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the funny man belongs to Kanpur and so was a good choice. His connection with the common man is well known, as most of the jokes are centered around a simple villager.

Not everyone is going back to their roots to contest the elections, Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwar is not fighting from anywhere in Bihar or Uttar Pradesh, but is given a ticket for Northeast Delhi seat. Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has been named the BJP Candidate from Ahmadabad east and Item girl Rakhi Sawant is also contesting these elections from Mumbai North West as an independent candidate.

There are other celebs who are always been in politics but would be fighting to enter the Lok Sabha this time. Actress Hema Malini is contesting from Mathura as a BJP nominee. Vinod Khanna will contest from Punjab as a BJP candidate. And veteran actor Vishwajeet Chaterjee is a TMC candidate in South Delhi.

Other film celebrities which are in the fray include, singer Rabbi Shergill as a AAP candidate from Amritsar. Music composer Bappi Lehri from Shri Ram Constituency on a BJP ticket, Munmun Sen from Bankura on a TMC ticket and Bengali actress Shatabdi Roy from TMC from Birbhum.

Besides the contesting celebs, several actors such as Mithun Chakraborti from TMC will be seen campaigning for their party candidates. As the campaign begins, expect many more film stars to reach the podium and the public to back one or the other party, as reported by IANS.
