Woman set ablaze in Delhi for turning down marriage proposal
In North Delhi, a man set a 25-year old woman on fire for allegedly refusing to marry him. The incident happened at the victim's house in Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area when the accused, Abhishek went there with Vijay and Karan and a few others and started beating the woman's relatives.

In the midst of this, one of them went to the kitchen and poured kerosene on the woman and set her ablaze. The victim has sustained severe burns and has been admitted to LNJP Hospital where the doctors have said that her condition is critical.

Vijay has been identified as uncle of the accused while Karan as his friend. According to reports, the accused, along with their friends used to regularly harass the girl. Initially, the girl ignored them but later complained to her family. The girl's brother who had warned the accused has also been brutally beaten up. Currently, he is receiving treatment at a hospital.

"It had been seven-ten days since they began troubling her. Still she used to ignore them. When she could not tolerate further, she told this to her brother, who asked him to stay away from her. The harassing stopped for a few days, but then it started again," ANI quoted a relative of the victim, as saying.

"Abhishek used to threaten her that if she doesn't get married to him, he will set her on fire and saying that if she did not belong to him, then he would not allow her to be someone else's. Both the brother and the sister are in pain. They (accused) should also be in agony right now so that they don't do it again in future," she added.

The police have arrested the three accused under Sections 307, 452, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

TOI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijay Singh saying, "We have arrested the three men and registered a case of attempt to murder."
