A girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a guest house in Sector 43, Gurgaon. Police suspect the girl, 22 years old, a BA final-year student at the Government College for Girls, may have died due to overdose of drugs.
The police has booked
Mohammad Arshad, 29, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder
after Babita Kashyap was found dead. Arshad, a taxi driver in
Palsora, earlier worked with the girl's father who is also in the
same business. The two reportedly checked into the guest house on
Wednesday and knew each other for two years.
''The girl had left for
college in the morning. Arshad picked her up from college and went to
the Sector-43 guest house, where they reportedly entered into an
intimate relationship, after which the victim started feeling unwell.
The cause of the death would be known after the postmortem tomorrow.
The preliminary inquiry indicates that the girl died after consuming
something poisonous,'' DSP South Surjit Malik told Hindustan Times.
Arshad told the police “ Babita said she was
feeling nauseated and was struggling to speak. There was some fluid
discharge from her mouth.”
Babita was later taken to the Sector 16 General
Hospital by Arshad in a cab. She was declared brought dead and the
police was called in.
Arshad was arrested when Babita's parents reached the
hospital and lodged a complaint. They claim that Arshad had poisoned
her. The police recovered a bottle from the spot.
