It is indeed a matter of great concern that even women lawyers at country's highest court find themselves unsafe in respect of sexual harassment from their seniors. 62 women lawyers have made a representation to Chief Justice of India and other judges of Supreme Court.
Fault lies at Supreme Court itself, which has not yet implemented its own famous 15-year-old Vishakha judgement. Moreover, everyone at Supreme Court remained a mute spectator to infamous CD-episode involving a prominent senior advocate, who also happens to be a veteran Parliamentarian, allegedly in conversation with a woman lawyer for her posting as a judge at High Court.
An RTI response at Supreme Court revealed total ignorance and overlook on the said CD-episode which was suspiciously washed out hurriedly, perhaps to protect the big name involved without any proper enquiry in larger public interest.
The Chief Justice of India should ensure immediate compliance of Vishakha judgement at Supreme Court. For an exemplary lesson to prevent such ugly aspects putting even a question-mark at appointments in higher judiciary, an impartial probe under Supreme Court vigil should be ordered in the infamous CD-episode involving the prominent senior advocate, who even had to resign from post of chairperson of a Parliamentary committee over the issue.
