The famous game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), attracts a lot of people to try their luck out. Babita was doing the same but she ended up losing money rather than gaining anything.

A WOMAN was allegedly tricked by a conman who pretended to be a telecaller from Kaun Banega Crorepati. The woman was duped of a total one lakh rupees. Babita, resident of Shahtri Nagar in Meerut was delighted when she got a call from KBC.

The caller asked her four questions and she gave right answers after which the caller assured her that she has been selected for the show. He later on asked her to deposit a fixed amount as security money, which was refundable. Babita's husband, Vijay Kumar Arya, said, “My wife has been trying her luck in KBC for the last 12 years but she got success in the last season on the 21 of June. She got a call from KBC that her name has been shortlisted for audition. They asked to submit concerned documents and the security deposits for visitors, which was refundable,” reported NNIS.

He further clarified the demands of the fraudsters, “First he asked us to deposit a total of Rs. 12,500 per head. I deposited Rs. 50,000 for 4 people. Again I got a call to deposit another 50,000 rupees but in the end they did not send any letter or ticket to us. Whereas they had already given us the details of accommodation in Oberoi hotel.”

Their happiness turn into sorrow when the family did not get the tickets. The victim has lodged a complaint with the police after which an investigation has been initiated into the matter. Rahul Mithas, SHO, Civil Line said, “A compliant has been filed by Babita Devi alleging that she has deposited money in different accounts as per the directions of the officials. When they tried to investigate the matter at their own level they got to know that something was not correct. We have accepted the complaint and are investigating it.”
