Women's Reservation Bill: Politics plays spoilsport
Reservation in any form is against mankind; however women's case is different. Women in almost all the religions and communities in India needs better representation in democratic framework.
NOBODY THOUGHT this would be the fate of the historic Women’s Bill on International Women’s Day. Nevertheless, this is a sad reality, that the much awaited Women’s Bill couldn’t be passed on Monday (March 8) as the Yadav brigade and their supporters opposed it vehemently.

As reported earlier, OBC leaders comprising Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Sharad Yadav had expressed their discontent on the Women Bill in present form, but even in hindsight nobody imagined, they would resort to unparliamentary tactics in opposing the landmark constitutional bill.

They also found another supporter in the form of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, who also said she would not support the bill in its present form.

The upper house of Parliament Rajya Sabha witnessed chaos once  the historic Women’s Bill was introduced for consideration.

MPs from Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janta Dal, Janta Dal (United) and Bahujan Samjwadi Party moved in the well of the house shouting slogans against the bill creating pandemonium. They also ripped copies of bill into pieces and threw these in air, in order to stall the proceedings. They didn’t stop here and also snatches mikes from seats, forcing speaker to adjourn the house numerous times and at the end till Tuesday (March 9).

Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav went one step further; they withdrew their outside support from the government. Everyone knows when Lalu Prasad Yadav was ruling Bihar, kidnapping, crime, corruption and host of other anti-development activities ruled the day. He ruled by emotionally blackmailing people.

Same is the case with Mulayam Singh Yadav, he too blackmails people emotionally, distracting their minds from all important issues of development. During 2009 parliamentary election, he asked the people to shun English and computer education.

According to parliamentary press release Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is supposed to convene an all party meeting to address the demands of dissatisfied members, especially Yadav brigade. Today, again Women Bill will be tabled in Rajya Sabha and lets hope it would be passed this time. But nothing can be said about Indian politics, anything can happen.

Reservation in any form is against mankind; however, women’s case is different. Women in almost all the religions and communities in India need better representation in a democratic framework. Otherwise, they would keep on experiencing harassment, discrimination and atrocities against them.

this is worst reservation. why reservation is the only way of helping any gender. there can be law enforcement and stimulation given by the government. kindly damn this kind of reservation.
A beaming SoniaG, chair person of the UPA announced that the government will now introduce a bill to ensure 20% reservation for children in the parliaments of states and centre to coincide on November 14, the children's day. "It is a shame that even after 60 years of independence, 60% of the children suffer from malnutrition", she said. A committee under the chairmanship of Dr MMSingG is constituted to complete the formalities by then. The secretary general of AICC, Dr RahulG added, "It is only the UPA, which had the vision to safeguard the interests of children. This is a vital first step to empower them as children are the future of this country". A spokesperson for AICC applauded RahulG by saying that he has once again proved his visionary credentials to be the next prime minister of India. It is learnt that the union home ministry is working on a bill to provide 10% reservation for insurgents as a strategy to bring them into the mainstream democratic process. Senior BJP leader ArunG demanded that a quota should now be established for cows too in the parliament as no one is interested in their plight. A political commentator commented on conditions of anonymity that there won't be any requests for reservation for donkeys and pigs as they are already over represented at present.
