Women's reservation bill will empower rural women
At the village level even today, women are being beaten up mercilessly like animals and it has been seen time and again that they were not allowed to raise their voice freely even after 60 years of the nation attaining its independence.
THE WOMEN'S Reservation Bill is basically aimed at giving more political space and accountability to the women hailing from rural background, who have been suppressed and exploited by their male counterparts since ages.

They have been denied quality education, quality health services, quality living besides food and clothing. At the village level even today, they are being beaten up mercilessly and it has been seen time and again that they were not allowed to raise their voice freely even after 60 years of the nation attaining its independence and people have been granted constitutional rights to express themselves in a free and fair manner.

Hence, the union government decided that in order to bring equal status among both the genders, it was felt that certain number of seats must be made reserved for the women candidates. This will allow at least a certain percentage of women to participate in the democratic process which otherwise was not possible.

As far as the case of women hailing from urban background is concerned, they have been doing better than many of their male counterparts in many spheres.

Right now we have the President of India, Pratibha Patil, the United Progressive Allaince chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, the speaker Lok Sabha, Meera Kumar, leader of opposition, Sushma Swaraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, etc are some of the strong cases where the women rose to power and reached to such a high office without any reservation on the basis of their merit and hard work.

Those who are opposing the Bill know that they would lose their Parliamentary seats in times to come as their seats would be reserved for the women candidates as they come from the rural and backward areas.

Though these Yadav leaders, who represent backward classes and come from backward regions, failed to do anything concrete for their region and their areas are still lying in the state of backwardness and one can take any of the seat whether it is Etawah, Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh or Chappra in Bihar, all are still very-very backward.

I hope the Bill will make the lives of at least 33 per cent of women from the rural areas better in some respect.

.Going by the same arguement I would like to ask you that if you want representation from the wemen community, what is wrong in giving one more provision in the law to give proper representation from all the sections..? If you say that the women are less represented today, it is still lesser from the backward and minority communities! Why the perpetrators of the women bill are not caring for the less privileged sections of the women community in this regard..? In short, if we analyse the post Mandal era of Indian politics, we can understand that the mainstream political parties like Congress, BJP and CPM are the losers in the present system and they want to arrest the trend. The womes reservation bill is a short-cut to their game-plan. Hence, now the birds of the same feather have come together to protect their selfish interest!
