Wonders of the ancient times
The work of compilation of the list of seven wonders was formerly started by around fifth century BC. Despite so many hindrances in traveling, people like Herodotus, Callimachus and others went for extensive exploration and documentation.
THE TASK of compiling the seven wonders of the world for people would have been really a tough one. The work of compilation of the list of seven wonders was formerly started by around fifth century BC. This task by the great people has been the source of knowledge for the future generation.

During the olden days people faced lots of difficulties in travelling from one place to another in search of data. Today, there is drastic change in the situation and there are large number of hotels and lodges for the travellers. People can now travel by air, by railways, by cars, by bikes, by buses etc to different places without any inconvenience.

Despite so many hindrances in traveling, people like Herodotus, Callimachus and others went for extensive exploration and documentation. They moved for long distances collected numerous facts and proofs for future references. The compilation of final list took place in the medieval ages. Now there are only certain maps/atlas and other essential documents.

Pyramid of Giza


Egypt is one of the most sought after tourist destination. Cairo and Giza city are the striking places which can be visited by the travellers. 
There are several pyramids in Egypt and the biggest of all is The Great Pyramid of Khufu which is in the list of the seven wonders of the world known to the people. The pyramids are located in Giza city along with a Sphinx.
 
Temple of Artemis


The temple is situated on the Western shore of modern Turkey, which is about 55 km South of Smyrna. This place was earlier known as Ephesus. This has been a great tourist attraction and is thronged by the people.

It was constructed in 800 BC close to the river at Ephesus. God Artemis in Ephesus is considered to be the goddess of fertility. Goddess Artemis is also known as the goddess of bull, beast, night, fruitfulness, childbirth etc. 

Colossus of Rhodes

If this wonder was in existence it would have been one of the tallest relic among the wonders known in the world. The Colossus of Rhodes was put up to celebrate the victory of Rhodians over the Antigonids. The statue was situated in the Harbor of the Mediterranean island. This island of Rhodes is positioned at the South-Western tip of the Asia Minor. This sculpture would have attracted the attention of many if it would have been in present.
