Work for inclusive, equitable and sustainable world for full realization of rights of people with disabilities: UN Chief Guterres
On the occasion of 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities" on 3rd December with the theme "Empowering Persons with Disabilities and ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality', U, N Chief Antonio Guterres in his message stated, "Let us reaffirm our commitment to work together for a better world that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable for everyone, where the rights of people with disabilities are fully realized."

"More than 1 billion people in the world live with some form of disability. In many societies, persons with disabilities often end up disconnected, living in isolation and facing discrimination," stated UN Chief in message while stressing the need  for 'integrating the voices and concerns of people with disabilities into national agendas and policies'.

He reminded the world community about the pledge 'to leave no one behind' and the '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' that  represent a commitment to reducing inequality and promoting the social, economic and political inclusion of all, including people with disabilities.

He urged the world community to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in all contexts and in all countries. He stressed the need to learn from good practices to create a more inclusive society.

In Jaipur, Disha, a non-profit voluntary organization, working for equal opportunities to children with disabilities culminates its 12-day program  to spread awareness, to evoke solidarity and support among the community for persons with disability on 3rd December 2018 by flagging-in of the signature campaign, prize/certificate distribution for the poetry competition 'Expressions – Abhivyakti', and cultural program by students.

"Along with our partner organizations of this journey we hope to collectively together renew our commitment towards our shared cause of empowering persons with disability and ensuring an inclusive society," stated Disha.
