Roughly two thousand colleges and universities, ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across United States were the family participants and celebrants of the first Earth Day. Moreover, it brought 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform. Environmental groups have sought to make Earth Day into a day of action which provokes policy changes and changes human behavior.
On this day, people perform various outdoor activities related to the earth safety like recycling of wastes, plantation of trees, energy conservation, picking up roadside waste material and so many. Some people and organizations request governments to take immediate action to prevent the day by day increasing global warming and other environmental destruction.
The Governments of many countries have taken various steps towards the safety of earth by implementing the variety of legal rules. A group of environmental leaders organize various events and campaigns to celebrate the Earth's Birth Day.
A big crowd of people get together from 141 countries to take part in demonstrating the theme of clean environment in order to build a clean and healthy world to welcome new generations. To inspire the public for making better earth environment is the aim of celebrating the World Earth Day.
Kidsforgurgaon- an initiative of 'iamgurgaon' celebrated the Earth Day with “Carry your own bag” campaign in association with Galleria Market Association, corporate partner- C&C Construction and Genpact and DLF RWA.
People pledged “Say no to Plastics & Carry your own Bag” in support for environment protetion and also emphasized the need to shift to reusable bags in Galleria market.400 school children and neighborhood children participated in various activities like a Green Quiz, Coin A Slogan Contest (with prizes from Midland Books Quill and Canvas), a Green Parade, a wishing Tree and Carry your Own Bag Pledge Wall.
In the evening, a recycled newspaper bag making workshop was held by the children of Saksham Ram School, Kunskappskolan, Gaurav Niketan and Ridge Valley School. Musical performances by Search Years Kalasthali and Masti Ki Pathshala were observed in the morning followed by children of Sikanderpur village presenting a Nukkad Natak in the evening.
