World Cup 2010: New details released for Opening Concert

FIFA World Cup is going to start with much awaited musical concert covering participants from across the world. Last moment finishing touch is full swing for the event. Organizers released new details on the Word Cup kick-off concert and opening ceremony.
Organizers are saying that the event will have African Vibe.
Kevin Wall, producer of the Thursday concert at Orlando stadium, said, “This concert is not only a tribute to the Word Cup event’s beginning, but it is also a tribute to African music.”
The Thursday’s concert will feature several footballers who will introduce the show’s acts Shakira, the Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, K’Naan, Angelique Kidjo and other African international artists.
Well, which footballers are going to be part of the mega-concert is not yet clear, but sources say that some would be from 2010 Word Cup and some would be football icons.
The suspense over the Friday opening ceremony, its theme and list of participants is over. The theme of the event, whose headline act is rhythm-and-blues singer R Kelly, will be “Welcoming the World Home to Africa”.
Lulu Xingwana, Arts and Culture minister, said the opening-day festivities would have a distinctly African beat, focusing especially on the “Six-pack” of African countries participating in the continents first World Cup.
"We're very happy that we have the best from South Africa and the best from the African continent," she said.
South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, Nigerian Afro-funk star Femi Kuti and the Soweto Spiritual Singers, along with 1,500 African musicians will perform with Kelly.
