Colombian star Shakira will perform the official tournament anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)." Pop star Shakira also performed the song at a World Cup Football 2010 concert in Soweto on June 10. The closing ceremony will also feature 780 cast members and some of South Africa and Africa’s top musicians and dancers.
Apart from Shakira, other artists will also perform at the closing ceremony of the World Cup Football 2010, includes multiple Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Jozi, Stoan Seate, Slikour, Zuluboy, Abigail Kubeka, Theo Kgosinkwe, Afrikaans artists Nianell and flutist Wouter, Nigeria’s 2Face, Ghana’s Samini and popular local traditional group Ihashi Elimhlophe.
According to the FIFA 2010 Organizing committee spokesman Jermaine Craig, the closing ceremony of World Cup Football 2010 is going to be more youthful and a bit more technologically advanced than the tournament’s opening, which featured a cool, more traditional African ceremony. He also said the festivities will feature nice lighting effects and special effects.
The closing ceremony of the FIFA 2010 World Cup Football is all set to telecast live in Australia on SBS, Brazil on ESPN Brazil, Canada on CBC, Germany on Sky Deutschland, India on ESPN STAR Sports, Mexico in Sky Latin America, The Netherlands in NOS, South Africa in SABC, Spain in Canal+, U.K. in BBC & ITV and in United States on ABC & ESPN.
