World Haemophilia Day: Karnataka Haemophilia Society organises awareness campaign
On Monday, World Haemophilia Day was observed with the theme 'Hear Their Voice'. However, in India, the voices of several thousand Haemophiliacs in each state of the country get ignored for their treatment.

According to Karnataka Haemophilia Society, one in every 10,000 people suffers from Haemophilia having low levels of clotting factors and the blood doesn't clot properly resulting in excessive bleeding and suffering.

According to the event managers, there are two types of hemophilia. Each type is linked to a low level of a certain clotting factor. Hemophilia A is the more common type and is linked to low levels of clotting factor VIII (8).

On the other hand, Hemophilia B is more rare and is associated with low levels of clotting factor IX (9). Hemophilia is diagnosed by taking a blood sample and testing the levels of clotting factor VIII & IX.
