World No Tobacco Day observed in Jaipur
On World No Tobacco Day, the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur held an event to create awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption. The event also saw cancer suffering patients sharing their hardships.
IN JAIPUR, on the eve of World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), Indian Asthma Care Society, Rajasthan Voluntary Health Society and Rajasthan Cancer Society organised an event at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital to create awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption.
SMS medical college principal Subhash Nepalia, as guest of honour of the event, said that when a person starts smoking, he or she may have a false sense of euphoria as stress-relief but it leads to serious health problems of lungs, stomach, brain and heart. SMS Hospital has already imposed a ban on the consumption of tobacco and smoking cigarettes inside its premises. The medical facility also imposes a fine of Rs 50 if anyone is found violating the rules. The UN-designated WNTD is celebrated on May 30 across the world each year to create awareness about ill-effects of all forms of tobacco consumptions. Also, the World Health Organization (WHO) makes use of the occasion for advocacy for strict regulations to ban tobacco products.
