Whatever may have been the circumstances but the decision will only send wrong signal across the world. It will only motivate terrorist to carry out their evil design of terror without any fear of law.

IN AN unprecedented judgment, a Scotland court has freed Abdelbaset Ali al Magrahi convicted for the Lockerbie bomb explosion in an air craft that claimed lives of 270 innocent people, mostly young college students of America. Somewhere around 189 Americans were killed in the terror attack. The dramatic court decision has shocked many countries including America.

The court released Megrahi yesterday (August 20, 2009) and today (August 21), he was taken back home in an Afriqiyah Airways aircraft. The convict was suffering from dreaded prostate cancer that according to medical experts has reached last stage and Megrahi has hardly two to three months to live. He was tried according to international laws and jailed in the year 2001.

Completely stunned with the decision,  President of USA Barack Obama said, “The decision was a mistake. We have been in contact with the Scottish Government, indicating that we objected to this and we thought it was a mistake.” Family members of the victim have reacted angrily against the move. Kara Weipz from New Jersey whose 20-year-old brother was killed in the horrific accident said, “I don’t understand how the Scots can show compassion. It is an utter insult and utterly disgusting.” However, the government of Scotland has said that it had to take the unparalleled decision as the convict Megrahi is suffering from a fatal disease, prostate cancer and he had anywhere around two to three months to live.

Whatever may have been the circumstances but the decision will only send wrong signal across the world. It will only motivate terrorist to carry out their evil design of terror without any fear of law. A man who hasn’t shown any sympathy against the victim is walking free and hailed as hero in Libya.
