World Shooting Cup 2010 in Delhi cancelled
The National Rifles Association of India has decided to cancel Pistol and Rifle World cup scheduled in March 2010 in New Delhi. It is being said that the failure to get shooting range ready for the event could also be a possible cause behind this.
FEW DAYS after questions were raised over the poor preparation for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, there is another shock for the country's sports fans. The National Rifles Association of India (NRAI) has decided to cancel Pistol and Rifle World cup scheduled in March 2010 in New Delhi.

The NRAI decision is apparently because no Olympic Quota places are on offer, however, it is being said that the failure to get the shooting range ready for the event could also be a possible cause behind this reason.

A statement by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) said that the 2010 ISSF World Cup scheduled in Delhi has been cancelled. The organising committee of the New Delhi World Cup has withdrawn its application to hold the event.

The decision by NRAI has apparently been taken over the non-distribution of Olympic Quota places during the Delhi stage of the World Cup. ISSF has maintained that the first Quota Places will be awarded starting two years prior the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games.

ISSF said that the first quota event will be awarded during the 50th ISSF championship in Munich in 2010.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that the NRAI has cancelled the event as the work at Shooting Range where the event was to take place is behind schedule. NRAI, however, said that the decision was taken as there was no quota places on offer.
