World T20: Sri Lanka knocked out; India to play against Australia today in do-or-die match
Former world champion Sri Lanka have been knocked out from the ICC World T20 championship after England beat it by 10 runs in a Super 10 match played at New Delhi yesterday.

Chasing a target of 172 runs, Sri Lankans fell short by 10 runs despite a brilliant unbeaten knock of 73 runs Angelo Mathews. The sad end of World T20 journey for Sri Lankans was very well anticipated by its fans during first 3 overs of the innings when Lankans had lost 4 wickets at the score of only 15 runs.

But, there was revival of hope to some extent after Mathews and Chamara Kapugedara formed a good partnership of 80 runs. However, after the end of 20 overs Sri Lankans could manage to score only 161 runs at the loss of 8 wickets.

From England Chris Jordan took four wickets for 28 runs in his four overs. Apart from him other English pacers David Willey, Liam Plunkett and Ben Stokes also bowled beautifully.

Batting first England scored 171 runs in 20 overs with help of Jos Buttler's unbeaten 66 runs. Apart from Buttler, English batsmen Jason Roy (42 runs), Joe Root (25 runs) and Eoin Morgan (22 runs) contributed some very valuable runs.

With Sri Lanka now out of the tournament along with South Africa also, England  has become the second team from Super 10 Group 1 to qualify for semi-finals. From Group 1 West Indies has already become the first team to qualify for the semis.

Meanwhile in a crucial Super 10 Group 2 match India will take on Australia today in Mohali. The winner of this match will be the second team to qualify for the semifinals after New Zealand.

Both India and Australia are favorites for the berth in semifinals and the match between them is expected to be a very close encounter. India in its last match had defeated Bangladesh by just 1 run. India's victory in that last ball thriller kept its chances alive in the tournament.
