World Veterinary Day observed at National Dairy Institute in Karnal
World Veterinary Day (WVD) was observed at National Dairy Institute, Karnal in which the preservation of indigenous breed of Haryana cows was stressed. On the occasion of WVD, the topic of 'Animal Welfare' was discussed in the institute. It was recommended that a scheme on the lines of Haryana's Murrah buffalo for its cows should also be launched.

On this occasion the veterinary professionals highlighted its various issues connected with the health of both animals and humans for a safe world trade in animals and animal products. The objective is to bring the importance of the Veterinary Profession to the society in focus.

It may be recalled that WVD was initiated by the World Veterinary Association (WVA) in 2000 in order to celebrate the veterinary profession annually on the last Saturday of April.

Often, WVA activities around the world consist of special lectures, seminars, workshops, activities at clinics, hospitals and veterinary schools, social and media events to inform the general public about the key role played by veterinarians in the society.
