Yash Chopra - the icon of Indian cinema
The legendary Indian filmmaker, Yash Raj Chopra died of multiple organ failure in Mumbai at the age of 80. He is the man who taught us about love, pyar, ishq, mohabbat in a quite simple manner.

YASH CHOPRA earned the nickname 'king of romance' because of his best known romantic films in the Indian film industry. Such is his magic that Indian girls believe love can only be done the way Yash Chopra's movies depicted.

The death of Yash Chopra is the end of an era, meaning that love on screen has come to a complete halt. The movies he directed were a masterpiece which expressed an unconditional, passionate and sacrificial love. He not only explained the meaning of love between a man and a woman, but he tried to describe all forms of love like the bond between a son and mother, father, brother and friends in his movies.

The movies like Daag, Kabhi Kabhi, Silsila, Chandni, Dil to Pagal Hai and Lamhe gave a new meaning to romance and they were really magical. The scene that runs in our minds when we think of a Yash Chopra's movie is heroine in a shiffon sari, running through a field of flowers or the snow capped mountains with a mellifluous music. He achieved six national and eleven filmfare awards for his outstanding movies.

Chopra's first film as director was 'Dhool ka Phool' and this movie had nothing to do with love. Then he directed Waqt, Deewar, etc. which were all drama and action. But then in 1976 he came up with a romantic film Kabhi Kabhi and this was the start of his career as a 'King of romance'. “My mornings will never be the same. My learnings of life will never be the same. LOVE never be the same. And cinema will NEVER be the same,” tweeted Anupam Kher.

His last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan is sheduled to be released during Diwali. It was his 22nd film as a director and he had announced his retirement from direction after this movie starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma on his 80th birthday. But it is very unfortunate that he is not between us to see the release of his last movie as a director. May his soul rest in peace.
