Yoga lovers celebrate 2nd IYD at 'zero line' near Indo-Pak border at India Gate, Hussainiwala
Ferozepur, June 21, 2016: The yoga lovers of this border town could not fulfill their dream to celebrate International Yoga Day (IYD) with the Prime Minister at Chandigarh - which could have been 'once in a lifetime opportunity' - with the change in the programme of participation of far-off districts, but they got a chance to commemorate this special day at the 'zero line' near Indo-Pak border at Hussainiwala.

"Yoga is an ancient system of our country. By adopting yoga, we can build healthy and crime free society," said Kamal Sharma, former BJP Punjab President while addressing yoga lovers.

"With the sincere efforts of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, a decision had been taken by the UN to celebrate 21st June as International Yoga Day and today this day is being celebrated in 176 countries around the world," he said.

He further said, "By doing yoga, we remain physically and mentally fit and keep our body disease-free."

Speaking about the importance of yoga, he said, "Yoga is one of the best means for natural prevention from diseases like sugar, obesity, blood pressure, heart and brain related ailments. The importance of IYD is to build a healthy nation by creating awareness about yoga exercises."

On IYD, district level celebrations were organized in collaboration with District Administration, BSF, Yog Sadhna Kendra, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Art of Living, Bharat Yog Peeth, Nehru Yuva Kendra and various NGOs.

By himself participating in the yoga exercise on IYD occasion, Er DPS Kharbanda said, "Yoga is a symbol of our body, mental and spiritual healthiness. It also teaches us to live a peaceful and stress-free life."

He further added, "By adopting yoga, besides health point of view, we could become economically strong also as we save a lot of money we spend on medicines for various diseases,"

"Apart from this, there is also an improvement in mutual harmony and moral values in our society," he added. He motivated the participants especially the young generation, to make yoga a part of their daily life for healthy living, both physically and mentally.
