'Yoga with Gurus' event held at United Nations in New York as part of International Yoga Day
As a part of the International Yoga Day 2019 observance, 'Yoga with Gurus' event was organized jointly by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN and the UN Department of Global Communications at the United Nations North Lawn in New York.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha Foundation, and Tao Porchon-Lynch, the world's oldest living yoga teacher at age 97 participated in the event. Since the inception of the observance, the event "Yoga with Gurus" is held at the United Nations on the 20th June followed by a panel discussion on the 21st June.

The UN holds that Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word 'yoga' derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

Here are some thoughts of Sadhguru on Yoga:

- The science of yoga provides the ultimate tool for enhancing human capabilities and functioning at the highest peak of body and mind.

-Yoga means to be in perfect tune. Your body, mind and spirit and the existence are in absolute harmony. When you fine-tune yourself to a point where everything functions so beautifully within you, the best of your abilities will naturally flow out of you.

-Yoga is a tool to find ultimate expression to life. Every human being must explore and know this. Otherwise, life becomes very limited and accidental. But once you start activating your inner energies, your capabilities happen in a different sphere altogether.

Here are some of Tao Porchon-Lynch's quotes.

-Yoga is the joining of our mind, body and spirit. It is like nature; everything is always recycled and brought full circle. I find that I can heal myself if I do what nature does. It's taken away stress and has helped me through crisis.

-I'm going to teach yoga until I can't breathe anymore then I'll just fly away to the next planet..

-When I wake up in the morning, I know that it's going to be the best day of my life. I never think about what I can't do. Make sure positive thoughts are the first ones you think in the morning. And never procrastinate.
