Yogi Adityanath's first UP Assembly session marked by commotion
The first session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly saw a rough start today with elected members standing on their seats and hurling paper balls at the Governor Ram Naik.

The Opposition shouted slogans and threw paper balls at him while protesting at the degrading law & order situation in the state. The proceedings which were for the first time telecast live by Doordarshan prompted the Governor to say, "The entire Uttar Pradesh is watching you."

The customary inaugural speech by the Governor of the Assembly that lasted for about half an hour was also drowned in the chaos and uproar in the Assembly. The marshals had to step in to stop the paper balls from hitting the Governor.

SP member Rajesh Yadav could be seen blowing a whistle throughout the Governor's speech.

Members of the Opposition could also be seen in the well of the Assembly with placards and banners raising anti-government slogans.

Chief Minister of the state, Yogi Adityanath was also present in the session and read out his address to the Assembly despite the commotion.

Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing a rise in crimes especially crimes that have a communal link to them. In the state, the so called gau rakshaks have been terrorising people by publicly beating & lynching them and the Adityanath government has maintained a silence that seems to have turned into approval of the crimes.
