Yogi Govt is all set to demolish Azam Khan's 'Urdu Gate' located in UP's Rampur
Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is all set to demolish the 'Urdu Gate' located at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University campus whose founder as well as chancellor is former Minister and Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.

The gate that was constructed at Jauhar University road by the Akhilesh Yadav government, was later declared illegal and found to be in violation of norms related to the public construction in the State.

The university campus is located at a distance of approximately 6 km from the city of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier this year, an inquiry conducted by the district magistrate had found that the gate was blocking the flow of heavy vehicles on the road that connects the Rampur district with Uttarakhand.

According to the UP Public Work Department officials, the inquiry report has been sent to the state government, which has directed the local authorities to take necessary action in the matter.

Speaking to the Times of India, PWD superintendent engineer Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said, "The state government has ordered to take appropriate action into the matter. We are examining the site and soon necessary steps will be taken," further adding, "it is true that while constructing the gate, the officials had not sought an NOC from PWD so the gate is considered an encroachment over the road due which public transport is badly affected."

The gate was built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh during Samajwadi Party's regime. Soon after the BJP formed the government in the state, Azam's arch rivals, including former MLA Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, BJP leader Akash Kumar Saxena and Congress' Faisal Khan Lala lodged three complaints against the gate.
