Pakistan cricket team's captain Younis Khan submitted resignation to the governing body for cricket in Pakistan, in a strong show of protest against match fixing allegations. The PCB has reportedly refused to accept the resignation.
THE CRICKET board in Pakistan has one more crisis to overcome, with Younis Khan, captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, which was recently crowned as T20 Champions, and semi-finalists in Champions League, submitting resignation to the governing body for cricket in Pakistan, in a strong show of protest against match fixing allegations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board, or PCB, has reportedly refused to accept the resignation.
Younis Khan was questioned by the Standing Committee on Sports of the National Assembly earler in the day in connection with match-fixing allegations on the Pakistan Cricket Team.
The cricket team, which is the reigning T20 champion, having wrested the title from India, has been expected to win the Champions League as well that concluded in South Africa just recently. However, despite better show in the round-robin stages, the cricket team could not overcome the Black cats New Zealand in the semi-final and had to return back empty-handed.
Following the loss in the semi-finals to "under-dog" tagged New Zealand team in the semi-finals, rumours of match-fixing and allegations related to the same started doing the rounds. One of the senior members of the Parliament accused the captain of the team, Younis Khan, for match-fixing. Taking strong objection to the accusation, Younis Khan submitted the resignation and sent the papers to the PCB.
The Pakistan Cricket Board, reportedly, rejected the resignation and called for a meeting with Younis Khan.
