YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visits Dalit village in West Godavari district of Andhra
Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the houses of Dalits in Gragaparru village of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, who were subjected to social boycott and said that justice will prevail. Trouble started when Dalits went to install a statue of Ambedkar at a place which was said to be disputed and the matter was pending with the court.

Jagan during his visit said that social justice should prevail but at the same time there should be no rancour. People of all castes and creed should coexist and no one should blame any section of the society as there are bound to be some bad eggs in any basket.

The Dalits had told him that they were boycotted and removed from work for no reason and they were in good terms with people of all castes of the village. He asked them to continue the good relations and leave the legal matters to court and compensation would be paid as per the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.

There had been no problems for the past 50 years and troubles began only recently in the past few months and neither Chandrababu Naidu nor the local leaders or officials had taken up the issue, they said.

"The issue had been blown up due to communication gap and adequate compensation should be paid," he said adding that the harmony of the village should not be disturbed and everyone should continue their good relations like earlier without giving any scope for dispute and allow law to take its own course.

A committee will be formed by the Party to monitor the situation and settle the disputes, if any, he said and appealed to them to help in bringing normalcy back to the village.

Earlier, Jagan Mohan Reddy gave a patient hearing to the other group as well and convinced them that peace should be restored and the village should be turned into a model village.
