In the LG ICC Awards 2011 nominations, Zaheer Khan has been nominated in the categories including Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy), Test Player of the Year and ODI Player of the Year.
THE INDIAN bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan has been nominated in the three categories of the annual LG ICC Awards 2011, as per the list, which was released on Wednesday. Besides Zaheer Khan, three other Indian cricketers captain MS Dhoni, legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have also been nominated in two categories each. The LG ICC Awards 2011 will be held at a dazzling ceremony in London on September 12.
Zaheer Khan has been nominated in the categories including Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy), Test Player of the Year and ODI Player of the Year. Both Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have received the nominations for the Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) and Test Player of the Year. Captain Dhoni was named for the ODI Player of the Year and LG People's Choice Award.
Apart from Zaheer Khan, five other cricketers were nominated in three different categories including Jonathan Trott and Graeme Swann from England, South Africa's AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla and the Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.
The nominees were selected by a five-man ICC Panel chaired by former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and panel includes former international players Mike Gatting of England, Danny Morrison of New Zealand, Paul Adams of South Africa and Zaheer Abbas of Pakistan, based on the performances by players and officials period between August 11, 2010 to August 3, 2011.
