Zebra crossing to help commuters outside Cyber City Metro station in Gurgaon
With Gurgaon housing a number of corporate offices, people from all over NCR throng the area. Most of these commuters use Delhi Metro and also the Rapid Metro to reach their respective destinations, primarily offices located in Udhyog Vihar. But the scene early morning and evening around Cyber City Metro Station seems to be chaotic with people ready to cross the road, risking their lives as well.

Things are expected to change as the Rapid Metro officials have painted zebra crossing leading to this station, which should act as a relief to those people who use Cyber Metro station as their starting or finishing point of their journey.

"A lot of commuters get down from the metro station and head towards Udyog Vihar between 8 and 9 am. We stop the traffic for a brief period so that pedestrians, in groups of around 50, are able to cross the expressway safely. We do the same during the peak hours in the evening. We had thought of installing a traffic signal but it did not seem a feasible because there is ongoing construction work of a 16-lane speedway. It would have been difficult to keep shifting the signal," said a traffic police officer, reported The Times of India.

But, this is not for the first time that such kind of measures had been taken to ease people while crossing the road. The concerned authorities had also put up speed breakers, but this idea did not churn much success, as it only led to traffic jam in the area, making it more chaotic.

One hopes that this zebra crossing turns out to be a successful one and solves the problem of the daily commuters as well.
