Transport services in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have crippled yesterday as about 20,000 state-owned buses went off the roads in both Telugu states as over one lakh employees began an indefinite strike, demanding hike in wages. They started strike following failure in talks between unions and the APSRTC management. All long-distance buses and city services came to a grinding halt across the two states, hitting 1.5 crore people who use public transport.
In a significant order today, a Division Bench of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh (Jabalpur Bench) comprising Hon'ble Jst. Rajendra Menon and Jst. Moolchand Garg directed a complete stay on all sand mining operations in the Sardar Sarovar Project affected areas in the state and called upon the Govt. of M.P. to furnish complete details regarding the mining activities in the project areas.
Similar to highway sector, the government ought to consider apt outflow of funds, or rope in reputed companies like Reliance Power and international biggies with deep pockets, which can resume those ceased projects at a fast pace and contribute towards significant development of the nation.
