Are smaller agenda-based political parties the power-changers of the future?
The Left-of-Centre Trinamool Congress party of Mamata Banerjee is rapidly canvassing for support in northern India and might go solo in the 2014 General Elections. Keshubhai Patel, in Gujarat, unable to make headway within the BJP, has launched the Right-of-Centre Gujarat Parivartan Party. Team Anna is disbanding and will soon re-merge in the form of what might be a Rightist political party with many Left ideas. Will such outfits determine future power equations in states and at the Centre?
