Out of the Rs 600 crore due as house tax, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has been able to recover very little amount from the New Gurgaon region. Residents say that they end up paying double - by paying maintenance to builders as well a house tax, which includes civic maintenance, to the MCG - for the same civic services rendered. Do you think there should only be one charge and hence one tax as far as the maintenance element in house tax is concerned?
