PIL to free Vigilance, CB-CID, EOW, ACO from Government control
Narendra Ch Social activists Dr Nutan Thakur and Amitabh Thakur have filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench to end the current control exercised by the state government in the investigations carried by various premier investigative agencies of Uttar Pradesh including Vigilance Establishment, CB-CID, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), SIB Cooperative and Anti Corruption Organization (ACO).

Kusraubagh flyover in Allahabad unsafe at night
Vinod Anand I have received several reports of late that the Khusraubagh flyover in Allahabad turns into a den of loitering criminals at night. They don't miss an opportunity to assault or rob passersby in case they happen to go across the bridge late in the night. Some of them are seen sitting here and there after dusk. They seem to be harmless, suffering from some mental disorder, but actually might be shrewd criminals who strike when the iron is hot and when none is around.

Schoolboys, kidnapping and gunfire at Allahabad
Vinod Anand School boys, especially those studying in English-medium schools, are expected to behave in an exemplary and responsible manner. But if they are also attending coaching classes, it may tend to create the impression that the education imparted in even good schools is not enough to obliterate the need for coaching. Romeos on bikes chase school vans in Allahabad
Vinod Anand Parents of school-going children have stopped sending their children to schools in trolleys, and instead have engaged fast-moving vans for this purpose. But the vans are not fast enough for 'romeos on bikes' who somehow find out who all are travelling by that vehicle.

Shantanu Dutta Given the demographic projections and the current national focus on paying attention to the economically productive age group of young people who contribute to economic growth and pay taxes (the elderly typically don't either), the sun has perhaps indeed set on past traditions and cultural norms of respecting our senior citizens to such an extent that this has to be enforced by law.

Dr. Lalit kishore Heavy downpour, gusty winds and power shutdown for the last two days have hit badly the sprawling make-shift Kumbhnagar on the bank of Sangam in Allahabad. A large number of devotees have left the place since the tents were blown off by the winds and place plunged into darkness. Hundreds of devotees got injured due to falling tents and had to spend the night in the rain water and darkness.

Kabir Holding colourful banners, flags and leaflets in their hands hundreds of poor farmer men, women and children from the Ganga and Jamuna valley Wednesday marched to Sangam city. Organized by All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha (AIKMS) they held Jal Sansad, appealing to lakhs of Kalpvasis and devotees from all over India, who were here in the hope of achieving liberation from troubles, to have faith in their unity and struggles to prevent loot of water and other natural resources essential for their living.
